National Youth Talent and Discovery Award

Press Release – Call for Entries

The United Organization for Education and Sports Development (UOESD) has officially opened entries for the 5th Edition of the National Youth Talent and Discovery Award, scheduled to take place in August 2026.

This year’s edition will be hosted in the Awgu Diocese, Enugu State, Nigeria, following a nationwide vote by youths across Nigeria.

The event is being organized in collaboration with the Commonwealth Society of Nigeria. UOESD will sponsor and oversee the national competitions, while the Commonwealth Society of Nigeria will facilitate the African and potentially global rounds, as declared by Amb. Chineke Cajethan Goodluck, President General.

Special lectures and interactive sessions will also feature during the event.


Eligibility and Preliminary Information:

Participation is open to all interested:

1. Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON) Parishes

2. Nigeria Federation of Catholic Students (NFCS)

3. Young Catholic Students (YCS) in Nigeria.

4. Registration Fee: ₦10,000 per parish

5. Delegation Size: Each participating unit (parish, chaplaincy or school  may attend with up to 25 representatives maximum

6. Facilities: Free accommodation, water, electricity, and security will be provided for the one-week program.


Awards and prizes

Main Prizes:

● 1st Place: ₦500,000 + Trophy + Medal + Certificate of Accomplishment 

●  2nd Place: ₦300,000 + Trophy + Medal + Certificate of Accomplishment 

● 3rd Place: ₦200,000 + Trophy + Medal + Certificate of Accomplishment 


Special Awards:

● FIFA Awards – Top 20 male & female football players will be selected to join an international football league.

● Best Participating Diocese in Nigeria – Diocese with the highest number of registered parishes.

● Best Participating Deanery in Nigeria – Deanery with the highest number of registered parishes.

● Best CYON/NFCS/YCS Leader of the year – Awarded to an outstanding leader with proven achievements one for each at the Deanery, Diocesan and National levels.

● UOESD Impact & Inspiring Leadership Awards – Given to young leaders, priests, and church leaders who will also be appointed as Commonwealth Ambassadors of Nigeria.

● Commonwealth Diocese of the Year for Youth Development Award 

● Other consolation prizes will also be awarded to promising runner's up
